Good Guys and Bad Guys

Some of my Patriotic friends are disappointed in the result of the recent compromise on the debt.  I am too.  As a result they are challenged with focusing their anger in an appropriate direction.  In the spirit of cooperation and harmony amongst my fellow conservatives, I am providing some assistance.

We can’t lose sight of who the good guys are and who the bad guys are.  I freely admit that some of them change camp from time-to-time which does make identification difficult.  I’ve decided to use a method that an intelligence officer used for me one time.  We were part of a contingency package to go into a very nasty place.  He divided the groups, clans, and other organizations into three categories:  Usually Friendly, Usually Hostile, and Death.  Fortunately we never went there – note there was no “Allies” category.  I think that is appropriate for Congress.  I have grouped well known movie characters to illustrate:

Usually Friendly:

Think of characters like Dirty Harry (“Dirty Harry”), Mr. Bean (“Mr. Bean”) and Good Arnold in “Terminator 2: Judgment Day.”

Representatives John Boehner, Eric Cantor, Michele Bachmann, Allen West.  Senators Mitch McConnell, Rand Paul (w/o Redbull), Jim DeMint, and Jeff Sessions.  Generally speaking this category includes nearly all Republicans with some notable exceptions.  There are no Democrats in this category – none, zero, zip, nada, squat.

Usually Hostile:

Covers Captain Barbarossa (“Pirates of the Caribbean”), Colonel Nathaniel Jessup (“A Few Good Men”) and Gordon Gecko (“Wall Street”)

Senators John McCain, Lindsay Graham, Olympia Snowe, Susan Collins, Scott Brown, and Rand Paul (on Redbull).  The only Democrat that fits in this category is former Senator Zell Miller.  I toyed with putting “Blue Dog Democrats” in this category – but when push comes to shove – they are still Democrats (Socialist, Progressives, Liberals, whatever) and when we needed them (Obamacare) they fell like a house of cards.

Death:

Alex Forrest (“Fatal Attraction”),   Darth Vader (“Star Wars”). General Zod (“Superman II”). Jason (“Friday the 13th”), Dr. Christian Szell (Marathon Man), and bad Arnold in the first “Terminator.”

All Democrats.  Tell me you can’t see Nancy Pelosi putting a live Rabbit in boiling water?  Barack Obama - Darth Vader you haven’t made that connection yet?  Harry Reid and flash-backs of General Zod?  Chuck Schumer as a wimpy but still lethal Jason?  I know you are like me and listening to Barney Frank is like watching Dustin Hoffman getting his tooth drilled without Novocain by Dr, Szell.  The Terminator and Dick Durbin – yeah.

That should clear everything up for you guys with target acquisition problems.

  1. Amigo,
That was funny. I loved the comparisons, especially the Bwaney Fwank/Dustin Hoffman one.

Let us see if the "Usually Friendly" have the balls to do what they were hired to do when the budget issue comes up. Supposedly, the shit sandwich they just signed off on was a maneuver to corner zero on cutting the budget. The argument that they control only one half of the one third of the government is bullshit. The GOP controls one third as they own the House. They caved to a non-threat called “default”. In other words they got suckered. They know it. We know it.

Congressman Ryan’s rant on the House floor about suggesting that they pass a bill to cover the moon with yogurt for a cost of 5 trillion, then passing a bill to repeal it ,then claiming victory for saving 5 trillion was spot on. How do we fix that kind of stupid? Boner and company strut around doing a victory dance claiming that it was the best deal that they could get. WTF! The debt deal does not have one cut in it and is nothing more than an accounting gimmick but it gave zero a 2.4 trillion gift package and a green light to print more money which will debase our currency further.

We will see if they are dumb enough to get baited again. I am betting they will.

I am amazed that there isn’t a mob with pitchforks in front of congress… but everyone is glad that the football schedule is on track for this season.

  2. The day after raising the spending limit they borrowed 238 billion and the debt now sits at 100% GDP.
As if we didn't know they'd do it.

  3. H-Nox - remember the discussion we had months ago about dealing with Iran? Your solution was to nuke them - and as attractive as that option was (and is), we finally agreed that it was unrealistic. We are having that exact same discussion now.

Because Tim "Tax Cheat" Geithner did NOTHING to prepare in the event the debt ceiling was not raised they courted, indeed they counted on hysteria and disaster (remember this):

    http://conservinexile.blogspot.com/2011/06/so-whats-plan.html)

Obama proved to be a gambler of enormous proportions. While I agree we weren't headed for default - we were certainly headed for a cataclysm on a grand scale.

Look at what the FAA is going through right now because the Democratic (Socialist, Progressive, Liberal, whatever) Senate is refusing to pass the House bill that funds the FAA.

Now project that to 40% of the government.

While it is very true that we have enough money coming in to fund the debt and pay many of the government's obligations - we are short about 40% (we could quibble about percentages - but that's about right). Therefore we would have to trim (not entirely a bad thing) that much each month and the Buffoon-in-Chief would be picking who and what we pay (a catastrophic thing).

This dust-up over the FAA may be a preview of how the budget is handled.

All this hate and discontent thrown at Republicans is entirely misdirected and completely unhelpful. While Boehner might have been more Mr. Bean that Dirty Harry during the Continuing Resolution capitulation, he edged more toward Good Arnold this time.

(Baseball analogy coming - I'll lose all the liberals that made it this far)

You guys are criticizing a guy for hitting a single because you wanted a Home Run. Okay - maybe it was a bunt - but you get the point.

  4. Amigo,
I got your point but this is simply not the platform the GOP ran on last fall. It is that simple.

They promised that they would cut the legs off spending. Instead the made a deal. Big shit!

    They get one more chance.

PS. I still favor nukeing Iran. I realize that is politically unrealistic but I don't argue with an asshole that threatens me with death over and over. Politicians will wait for a mushroom cloud over a major city and say WTF was that in unison. Then when the dust settles declare that they should have done something about it in advance but claim that they couldn't because it was unpopular.

  5. H-Nox - and if they hit another single - who are you going to vote for? A Democrat (socialist, progressive, liberal, whatever) or Sharon Angle? Christine O'Donnell? Jamie Radke? Come on - get real.

You can't even imagine how much I would like to nuke Iran - but you are right, they will have to do something pretty bad to draw that response.

  6. Amigo,
You know I would never vote for a lightweight.

I am still trying to understand how the GOP could draw the conclusion of a win, much less a single, from this deal.

    I ain't buying it.

Someone is trying to polish a turd here.
