I think that Doctor Milton R. Wolf is fast becoming one of my favorite columnists. I have been writing for some time about the shear stupidity of subsidizing the production of bad gas (Ethanol) by using food. Today in The Washington Times Wolf writes in “Energy Obamanomics: No green jobs and plenty of red ink” about what will be Obama’s legacy as we go to the polls in 2012:
“The president tried to sock it to the poor man with his “cap and trade” energy, plan under which, in his words, “rates would necessarily skyrocket.” The Obama energy policy started with, again in the president’s own words, putting a “boot on the neck” of America ’s oil suppliers. Since he effectively imposed a moratorium on drilling in the Gulf of Mexico, which resulted in the administration’s being found in contempt of court, 10 oil rigs have left the Gulf and are providing affordable energy and jobs for South America, Africa and the Middle East . Meanwhile, gasoline prices have doubled since Mr. Obama took office. The court didn’t go far enough. This White House is in contempt, not just of court, but of the American people themselves.”
What is incredible now is that we can save huge amounts of money, cut the cost of gas, reduce the price on most foodstuffs, and increase revenue to the government by ending all this ridiculous alternate fuel funding, protection, and coercion. Just stop being stupid.
Amigo,
ReplyDeleteIt is almost impossible to fix stupid. It requires the ballot box and in extreme cases the cartridge box.
Try buying gas so you can drive down to feed your pigs. This jerk is killing me.
ReplyDeleteIf many of our politician would stop being stupid then they would just stop BEING. I know I'm not saying anything you already don't know but, we buried Common Sense a long time ago in this country.
ReplyDeleteI forget which comedian did this bit.
ReplyDeleteHow is it, that children in other countries are dying of starvation, and we use food for fuel.
I thought that was funny.
Thank you all for your comments. Food-to-fuel is a good example of how Liberals (Democrats, Progressives, Socialist, whatever) can't ever see the unintended results of their knee-jerk and foolish actions.
ReplyDeleteI remember driving to SEATAC airport and listening to a radio report about how a school built with all the watermelon (Green on the outside - red on the inside) bells and whistles was grossly under performing. The object was to reduce energy costs - of course the opposite had happened. At great cost the outside of the building was virtually all window to take advantage of "natural light and heat." In SEATTLE. What is it famous for?
Hint: Vampires go there to retire.
It's nearly always overcast and raining in Seattle - when the sun comes out most residents say "What's that . . . up there in the sky?"
H-Nox and Ron White are right - "You can't fix stupid."
