I saw the clip on television the other day of our Treasury Secretary. He was being quizzed on the impending showdown with Congress over the debt ceiling. Unfortunately it was originally on CSPAN so few people if any saw it:
The Daily Bail: Video: Bob Woodward Asks Tim Geithner AboutDebt Ceiling Back-up Plan If Congress Fails To Act.
Bob Woodward to Tim “Tax Cheat” Geithner: “What is your contingency planning . . . .?“
Geithner: “Congress will do what it has always done which is to pass the debt limit. So our plan is for Congress to pass the debt limit, our fall back plan is for Congress to pass the debt limit and the fall back to the fall back is for Congress to pass the debt limit.”
How amazing is that? As a former military planner as well as a planner in civilian life – that couldn’t be more absurd and it’s amazingly reckless. This is yet another arrogant response by a regime that has us on a rocket-sled to financial ruin.
We all need to remember this when the administration starts lying about “cooperation” and “bi-partisanship” later. I don’t care what your opinion is on the debt, spending, taxes, or the deficit – it is suicidal to do nothing.
Now the day is here Geithner. In a true show of bipartisanship the House rejected the “clean” vote that the President asked for 318-97. Now that is unity. All the Republicans and 81 Democrats voted against raising the debt ceiling. Seven cowards (Democrats all) voted “present” and astonishingly 97 other Democrats voted for raising the debt-ceiling by $2.4 TRILLION.
But our ridiculous Treasury Secretary was fiddling while Washington was burning. It’s beyond stupid – this guy is a disaster.
