I am astounded that there are no shortage of experts, pundits, and politicians who are surprised by the bad economic news Friday. It didn’t surprise me. I suspect that it didn’t surprise the Congressional Budget Office. You may remember that they were the ones who said before the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 (or Porkulus Bill) was passed that it would be worse in the long run than doing nothing. There is a lot of that going around right now. Passing any of the current health care proposals in Congress would undoubtedly be worse than doing nothing for example.
