Rick Perry and I are on the Same Wavelength

When asked what he thought about some loopy thing Ron Paul had said at the debate, Rick Perry said this:

He’s still the guy I would vote for.  I think he would make a pretty damn fine Commander-in-Chief.

  1. You're right. This was one of his strongest points of the evening. I loved it. In fact, I thought the debate was absolutely the best so far. Ron Paul, once again showed his ignorance. I would have no problem with Rick Perry as President. I'm not sure why his numbers are so low. But I think the candidate that performed the best last night was Newt Gingrich. He was smooth last night.

    1. Right,

I think that Perry stumbled at the gate and people haven't seemed to want to reconsider.

Ron Paul is a lunatic - this clip gives a good view of him when Perry makes the "gong" remark. That picture is the very definition of "crazy."

I agree on Newt's performance, I'm just not sold on him as our standard bearer.

  2. Yes, he would, but...

...he has to get past Romney. If Perry and Gingrich drop out, Santorum can beat Romney.

If Romney gets the nomination, I will vote for him. But I will start campaigning for a third party on November 7. If Romney gets the nomination, the Republican Party is through.

    1. Tenth,

Agreed - I could live with Santorum. I still think that having a governor is the best solution though.

  3. Yes he would. I hope he gets a second look from the voters.

  4. I like him now. If he could jump on board with deportation, I might actually donate to his campaign.

    1. Johnny,

I wanted him to run before he got into the race. I believe that having a governor is the best way to go and he's the best of the lot next to Virginia's Governor Bob McDonnell.

  5. I agree, CS, that this was a great moment for Perry and that he did well in this debate. That said, he began his campaign poorly and sometimes that just can't be overcome. He appeared more prepared and less cocky during this debate. His humble meter rose but I am just not sure it will be enough to overcome the initial impression he gave when he entered.

    1. Mrs, AL,

I fear that you might be right. He just can't seem to catch a second look.

  6. I like Rick Perry also. I am disappointed that he has not made much headway since he stumbled in the beginning. But he has come back very strong in the debates now. Why do people have to be so critical?

Sure he made fumbles in the beginning but I give him credit for staying in there, getting past his fear of debates and coming out punching strong now.

Who knows what will happen. This race has been like no other in my lifetime. It takes its' twists and turns so we can never know at this point what will happen and who will come out on top.

    But, Romney needs to go.

    1. Pepperhawk -

I got all of your posts - sorry about the interface. I'll have to work on that.

Your Perry comments and mine appear to be overcome by events of this morning. Sad.

  7. I like Rick Perry. So he stumbled in the beginning, can't people give him a break?
He came back, did not quit because he does not like debates and came on strong.

He is doing very well in the debates and punching out good answers.

I've not given up yet because this race is like no other with all the twists
and turns. I still think there is time for someone else to pass Romney.

    Romney must go.

  9. Common Sense,

I am having trouble getting my post to take. I don't mean the moderation. I mean they won't even take and I get back nothing, no sign that my posts are under moderation.

  10. Whoops. Perry forgot to coordinate with you.

I wish he'd backed Santorum instead of Newt, especially now that Santorum won Iowa. Can the press repay Santorum for all the free press Romney got out of "winning Iowa and New Hampshire for the first time for a non-sitting President"?

    1. Tenth,

Agreed - though it appears that the Iowa operation was pretty sloppy at best. They still have eight precincts that haven't reported? What a mess.
